Ratification of the AfCFTA agreement
In a unanimous voting decision by those deputies present at the session, the Assembly of the Representatives of the People of Tunisia adopted on July 22, 2020, the draft organic law relating to the approval of the agreement establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The agreement was signed on March 21, 2018, by the Tunisian government in Kigali, Rwanda. Nevertheless, ratification by Parliament was necessary to complete the accession procedures.
It aims to establish a comprehensive and mutually beneficial framework for trade relations between the Member States of the African Union.
